Substitute for wine?

Substitute for wine?

Hello,

I hope this is the proper forum for this question (apologies in advance if it isn't), but I noticed some rituals in the course textbook utilize wine- which I cannot indulge in. Is it possible to replace wine with grape juice or similar instead?

Thanks for any insight!

Hi albus,

I guess grape juice is not the worst substitute. Its also possible to drink symbolically, by just raising the glass and pretending to drink. I am not really sure, however, what the better solution is.

Hello Albus,

red grape juice is fine, yes. I agree with you, Ben, that raising the chalice without the actual drinking is also possible: this method is usually used in group rituals when there is only wine available.

Thanks, Andrea.

Good to know. I practice  a religion that forbids alcohol, so I was just curious. :)
