animal-derived items for meditation

Hello,

It is not my intention to criticize or judge by the following concern. I am close to starting my first lesson in the free online course, and interested in purchasing a course book. BOEL has spoken to my intuition, and I have a very strong inclination to be a part of this school. This is why I find it important to have my concern addressed.  While navigating the website, I did a quick overview of a meditation (or ritual), and noticed that one of the required items is milk. I have been sincerely committed to a diet which will eventually eliminate dairy products, in addition to any other animal product. This extends to my abstinence in the use of animal-derived products for any other purpose. To be brief, I would like to know if it is possible to skip or substitute using milk? I am not planning to practice this meditation right this instant, but I am projecting into the future when the opportunity to be highly involved will take place. I am not versed in the teachings of a mystery school, therefore I am open to any guidance or suggestion I may receive in this area. Thank you.

Elena

Hi Elena,

it’s nice to hear that you can relate so well to the teachings of BOEL,  and I am wishing you lot of joy and insights with your studies in the course :)

Also,  I can relate completely to your concern,  as I myself,  though not avoiding diary products completely,  am trying to reduce them substantially
So,  in short,  yes you can replace milk with any other substance you feel suitable,  I myself am not using milk in my diet,  so I will use either soya milk or (so called milk) from any other substance like almonds, hazelnut or oats  -  still keeping to the colour in that way  ;-)

Hope that helps to give you an idea and answer your concern ?

Hi Nalinie,

Thank you for responding. It is good to hear I would be able to substitute dairy milk with something else. Thank you for your wishes in my studies. I look forward to this journey one step at a time.

In light,

Elena

Hello Elena,

I think you refer to the Ritual of the Guardian Spirit. There it says

"Then call upon him three times, then offering him water, milk and/or bread."

So you are not supposed to actually drink the milk (nor the water, nor eat the bread), because these are offerings to your Guardian Spirit. As Nalinie already stated, If you do not wish to use milk, you can replace it by something else (that is suitable for your Guardian Spirit), or use only water instead, and adjust the text accordingly.
